The Nusuk App and Rawdah Permits: What American Pilgrims Should Know

How American pilgrims use the official Nusuk app, including booking a visit to the Rawdah in Masjid an-Nabawi.

The Nusuk App and Rawdah Permits: What American Pilgrims Should Know

Nusuk is the official Saudi platform for pilgrims. As an American traveler you will mostly use the Nusuk app for one thing: booking a time slot to pray in the Rawdah in Masjid an-Nabawi. Quran Travels is an independent agency and is not part of Nusuk, but we help our travelers get set up.

Setting up the app

  • Download Nusuk from the App Store or Google Play before you leave home.
  • Register with your passport details once your visa is issued.
  • Add family members, including children, if the app allows you to manage them together.
  • Turn on notifications so you see new slots as they open.

Booking the Rawdah

The Rawdah is the area between the pulpit and the home of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. Access is managed through time slots, with separate times for men and women. Slots are limited and can be hard to find in busy seasons.

  • Check the app as soon as you arrive in Madinah, and again early in the morning.
  • Arrive at the indicated gate a little before your slot.
  • Keep your booking confirmation open on your phone.
  • Visits are short, usually around ten minutes inside, so pray and make dua calmly.

Other things in the app

Depending on the season, Nusuk may also show services such as permits, maps and information about the Haramain. Features change over time, so check what is available when you travel.

If you cannot get a slot

Do not lose heart. You can still pray in Masjid an-Nabawi, send salam to the Prophet, and visit Quba. Keep checking for cancellations, which do appear.
